Our History

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) traces its roots back to 1933. In Region VI, we have evolved alongside the vibrant industries of Western Visayas—from the sugar heartlands of Negros to the bustling trade centers of Iloilo.

Through decades of socio-economic change, the Regional Office has remained a steadfast partner in development. We have transitioned from traditional labor inspection to a multi-faceted agency that handles emergency employment (TUPAD), youth development (SPES), and comprehensive livelihood programs.

Today, DOLE Region VI continues to modernize its services, ensuring that the labor force in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental is protected and empowered in the global economy.
